SSDW Project
SSDW Workshop
SSDW Sponsorship The Space Station Design Workshop (SSDW) is a one-week teaching & working seminar. The participants learn and practice Systems Engineering and the concept design of manned space systems in competitive teams. The 2023 Space Station Design Workshop, held from 21st July to 28th July 2023, brought together a diverse group of participants from around the world. Organized by the Institute of Space Systems (IRS) together with a number of sponsors at the University of Stuttgart, the workshop aimed to address the challenge of conceptualizing a post-ISS infrastructure for the emerging space economy. Participants included mission analysts, systems engineers, experts in science and business, architects, and other stakeholders. The workshop's focus was to develop a comprehensive study and conceptual design of a manned platform in Earth orbit that serves as a successor to the International Space Station (ISS) and supports both scientific and commercial applications. NileOrbital Aerospace partially sponsored Joseph Arinitwe, an electrical engineering student from the Makerere University to participate in the 2023 SSDW. This undertaking was part of NOA’s effort to boost local space technology capacity.
